Facility Description: The Stevens Institute of Technology performed beryllium research and development for the AEC. Researchers at the school’s Powder Metallurgy Laboratory experimented with slip casting production techniques as a replacement for the conventional vacuum-hot-pressed block process. Beryllium powder was the primary ingredient in the production process. The laboratory’s working inventory during the course of the contract included approximately 50 pounds of beryllium metal powder produced by the Brush Beryllium Company.
